As we have said the club really developed during the 1980s, the culmination was probably from 1985 – 87 when we reached the Alliance Cup Final, winning 2 years in succession 1985 & 86.
This led to us playing in the East Midlands Cup against the winners and runners up of the other sub counties of EMRU (East Northants, Bedfordshire, Hunts & Peterborough). The eventual winners were then entered into the 1st Round of the then John Player Cup (later Pilkington) where they could meet any of the “Senior” sides – in 1981/2 Kettering RFC lost to Saints 31-0! Unfortunately on both occasions we lost to Leighton Buzzard, in 1985 in the semi final, then losing the final in 1986.
